So I'm back to my sprightly self, that last two February's in a row I have been really sick. I miss southern hemisphere February, I feel a little bi-polar sometimes, like my body's expectation of of summer has it's face slapped by the cold hard reality of winter. The reality I want is beyond my grasp.

Light was the thing I discovered this week, Noël's Cousin Steve got talking to me about speedlights and I sadly have become hooked on lighting. Still waiting for a little more cash before I buy a light, but built a lightbox today and used some lamps as extra light as well as a snoot(sp?) on the built in flash. Pretty happy with the results as it only cost £3.00 and an hours work. I think I can get a mobile studio going for under £100 (plus the flash of course) and it would fit in my Compurover AW pretty easy. I'm looking forward to the summer again, as long as I get away from the city.

Oh also I'm going to start making some website designs and shit and was just going to make up fake companies/ products/ people and do a whole bunch for a portfolio, but if you need a site that you wouldn't mind taking a while and being a practice for me I would rather make something that will get used. I don't need any money, just ideas and a few constraints to keep me occupied. Email me if your interested.

Since about Monday 2 weeks ago I have had some sort of chest infection and have spent a lot of time hanging out in bed. I lost 16lbs (eep) in a 9 days and still don't really have an appetite. Only plus side is that I'm not really spending any money and at least I have my new computer to keep me company :).

So to cheer myself up, today I decided to continue developing the site and incorporate a design that I wanted to make into a t-shirt last year. I found this Air Canada logo a while back and thought it was super cool and this is the result. I kinda copied (very shameless) a style of one the the graphic designers sites who is working on the new usa.gov site with the new administrations plan to make government more transparent. Awesome huh? Looks like America is getting cooler by the day, and the internet will only become more and more important as time goes on.

Next step, incorporate design over site, update portfolio. . .

Recently I've been rather busy with work but in a good way, and have neglected a few things I've been meaning to do (Update portfolio, get IE running on my mac to test my site and fix a couple of design quirks, plan Summer etc) but on the plus side I'm getting pretty good with Fireworks (Adobe not explodey) and have been making a few vectors out of some of my photos.

Drove out to Windsor today and checked out a castle, heading to the transport museum tomorrow and to a squat party in the central city in the weekend. I'm really getting sick of living in a city in the winter, growing up in the prettiest place in the world really makes you hate the mundane repetitive nature of the city, It's so removed from all the things I love, when you take away the fact that I'm saving a bunch of money, London kinda sucks. I know they say that if you can't enjoy yourself in London then you can't anywhere, but what the hell do they know? I would enjoy Zombie London after the apocalypse, but right now there's just too many monkeys.

Anyway, winter is almost over and I'm getting ready to make my next move wherever that may be. Will marry for citizenship. . . .

Snow arrived this week across most of the UK with drifts of up to 2 meters in places causing the media to go insane. Road closures, shops shut, most of the transport network in the city was shut down with the buses not running at all. Supposedly this didn't even happen during the blitz. I took the opportunity to head out and take photos on Monday in and around Hyde Park. I lasted about 3 hrs before I realised I had the flu and my lens was too covered in droplets (need a lens hood) to take decent shots, so I headed back home and slept on the couch.

Also today my new bag arrived, a Lowe Pro Compurover AW, and now my bag arsenal is complete. Now I just need to get the fuck outta dodge.
