Espana

softyI have been working solidly of late as we have had to push up the dates of the Spain trip to next Wednesday! Should get there on Friday night after some epic driving (not compared to Canada thou) and will be there for about 3 weeks before we return. The Sun has been out in London for about 8 days now, Spring has sprung and outside is clothes optional again. My vege garden is on the verge of a growth explosion, and my tomatoes chillies, capsicum and herbs are getting pretty big.

Last week while waiting for the GBP£ to go up against the NZD$, I happened to buy a new lens for my Camera, a 18-200 VRII Nikon. Will report back soon.

Amsterdam Mark II

marble_hillSo it may seem like a strange idea to go to Amsterdam again, but frankly to take a holiday on this god damned island you have to pay through the nose. To book an apartment in Amsterdam for 10 days is cheaper than a campsite in Devon. I thought I found the ticket with a £225 VW combi for a week, but it turned out to be a 2 day rate. Over £700 a week! I also looked into Scotland, but being vehicle-less is a bit of a problem once again, and I think a tent might not be the best way to enjoy it.

Breakdown:
Eurostar to Amsterdam (and back): £100
Accommodation in Amsterdam 7-10 days: £200
Food etc: £100-200

Now that's the same price as just getting accommodation in the UK, PLUS I would have to hire a car to get there and back + petrol. . . .
I asked a few people about hitchhiking in the UK and I got a lot of queer looks and horrified expressions which makes me think that it could be a fruitless endeavor. All this is happening after Spain so at least I should have a tan?

Cromwell, 2005

CromwellSo I have just discovered that I have to take a holiday before the end of June for 9 days or else I will lose them, so I have been thinking about getting to Cornwall and check out the surf. I've had a quick look for boaters/boats on the net, but have had little success. If I could rent a nice boat that would be sweet, but finding one to borrow that would be even better if you know anyone. . . big if.

Also considering a return to Amsterdam now that's its a bit warmer, find a small place to rent for a week and chill out, explore for real this time, get out of the city etc.

Home/work life has been much better, started propagating tomatoes, chillies and herbs for the garden, got a desk, found a bike which I'm doing up, too bad the ocean is a long ride away :(

I have a lot of plans and ideas happening at the moment, and all are very dependent on timing, but really I think it will all turn out ok. I have had issues with my inability to start something concrete before I get too old, but I realize that it doesn't mean shit if I think I have wasted my time/youth doing something that doesn't pan out. I think that's why this job has been tough because I resent the fact that I am here just to save money rather than to learn and experience new things.

Things will always be changing, I will have a new kayak, I will be closer to the ocean, I will be somewhere else next year, and I will succeed. Of Course :P Canada by the end of the year? Maybe. . . Let see how the west coast pans out, maybe an exploration of Scotland is in order soon too.

Anyone heard of hitchhiking in the UK? I'll give it a go if its not impossible. . . .
